Can’t say enough good things about Dr. Balhoff and his wonderful staff! Not only did they take care of my son’s teeth and smile, but worked with a busy teenager’s schedule to make sure he never missed an appointment! Highly recommend!
I love these folks! My son is being treated by Dr. Balhoff and his staff. This evening, one of the appliances came loose to the point where my son couldn’t eat. We called the office after hours and the on call staff didn’t hesitate to come back to the office to help him. 100% on customer service and attention to the customer!
Dr. Balhoff was extremely gentle, had a wonderful bedside manner, and extremely thorough with explanation of the treatment of his patients and parents. I also love the fact that we got the results of her x-rays the same day as her treatment plan!!
“Had a great visit with Balhoff Orthodontics yesterday! To be honest, I was nervous and did not know what to expect. The minute I walked in, I could sense that this indeed was a very special place. Everyone was very attentive, professional and treated me like family. He took his time and explained in detail his concerns for my dental health. I would recommend Balhoff Orthodontics to anyone. I want to thank the dental office of Tom Sammons for referring me. Both of the above dental practices are truly deserving of being among the top of Acadiana’s Best!”
“Dr. Balhoff and his staff are absolutely awesome!! They are all very caring, nice and very patient when their job gets a little challenging lol. I would recommend Dr. Balhoff to anyone looking for a great orthodontist!! I was very satisfied with the care I got yesterday and I know I will be well taken care of for the next couple of years. Frequently Asked Questions
Orthodontists are dental health specialists who focus on the alignment of teeth and jaws. According to the American Dental Association, an orthodontist will focus on diagnosing, treating, and preventing, whenever possible, bad bites and crooked teeth, helping patients improve their biting, chewing, speaking, and more.
Orthodontics is the field of dental health that diagnoses treats, and aims to prevent jaw malocclusions and dental malalignment. Just as any other dental health specialty, it focuses on specifics of a person’s orofacial structures to improve their dental health and overall health. In the case of orthodontics, we achieve this with a treatment that realigns your teeth and achieves an ideal relationship between jaws.
Ideally, patients should first visit an orthodontist by age 7. Correcting your dental alignment is much easier during your teenage years because your orthodontist can leverage the natural movements bones and teeth make during that time. Adults can still make the most out of this specialized care starting as soon as they can.
Every patient’s journey is unique. Orthodontists develop treatment plans that are safe for your teeth. However, when patients don’t follow their orthodontist’s recommendations, they can cause orthodontic emergencies, delay their treatment, or fail to achieve their desired results. Make sure you talk to your orthodontist to manage your expectations about treatment.
You should still continue to visit your general dentist frequently. Your dental hygiene is critical to the success of any orthodontic treatment. Similarly, you can consult with your orthodontist if you require help from an endodontist or other specialist for a root canal, dental crown, dental extraction, or more.
The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends parents take their children to an orthodontist around age 7 because they can take advantage of their mixed dentition and ensure that permanent teeth erupt properly aligned.
